What it holds
Little Treasures is an imaginary interior filled with the things I’m always drawn to: colourful vessels, flowers, an enormous leafy plant, an excessively fancy lamp and a pink cockatoo looking perfectly at home among it all.
These objects don’t exist together anywhere outside this artwork. They’re fragments I’ve collected in my imagination from years of noticing beautiful things, saving images and making little doodles. Here, they’ve become the corner of a home I rather wish were mine.
Story and inspiration
This artwork belongs to the same family as Because It Makes Me Smile, which I created for Affordable Art Fair Sydney in 2025. I loved that first collection of joyful objects so much that I wanted to rearrange them, add to them and see where else they might live, a bit like giving a favourite room a refresh.
The flamingo artwork and lamp have been carried across from that earlier piece, along with the pink cockatoo and big blue leopard print pot.
The tiled border wasn’t part of the original plan. I first cut an alarming number of bright blue squares, only to realise they weren’t working. I started again with deep indigo, purple and burgundy, which felt like a slightly weird choice at the time but turned out to be exactly what the artwork needed. At the Melbourne fair, people kept leaning in to inspect its texture and were surprised to discover that it was collage.
Where it lives best
At 70 × 70 cm, Little Treasures has enough presence to hold its own above a sofa, sideboard or dining setting. The darker border gives all that pink, green and electric blue a strong edge, making it especially lovely in a room with timber furniture, plants and collected objects of your own.

Artist’s Note
I love that none of these objects actually live in my house, although I rather wish they did. They’ve been gathered from saved images, half-remembered details and little doodles, then shuffled around until this curious corner appeared.
