  • Not Waiting for Permission is all holiday confidence and “come join me if you’re fun” energy.

She’s sitting in her own little poolside, resort-inspired world, wearing a coral dress, dark sunglasses and fabulous statement earrings with a drink in hand, flowers around her, and that confident expression that says she knows exactly who she is.

She’s not being rude. She’s not shutting anyone out. She’s more than happy for you to come and join her.

But if you don’t? She’s fine.

That’s the whole magic of her.

    Story & inspiration

When I look at her, I imagine she’s just seen a friend walk in and she gives that look like, “hey, come join me.”

But underneath the fun, there’s something stronger happening.

She’s learned that other people’s choices aren’t about her. Their moods, opinions, reactions and little emotional weather systems are not her job to manage.

    That feels huge to me.

So yes, she has the cocktail and the sunnies and the tropical flowers, but she’s also carrying this very grown-up kind of freedom. The freedom of not twisting yourself into knots trying to be acceptable to everyone.

    Where it lives best

Not Waiting for Permission would be fabulous in a living room, dining area, hallway, bedroom or home office where you want something bold, warm and a little bit holiday-ish.

She’s especially good somewhere you’ll see her often, as a colourful nudge to trust yourself, stop over-explaining, and make choices that feel like yours.

    • She brings confident resort energy to your wall without needing you to pack a suitcase.

    • Her bold sunglasses, coral dress and cocktail details make the whole room feel warmer, brighter and more alive.

    • The framed finish gives her a polished presence while still keeping all the handmade collage texture and personality.

    • She’s a daily reminder that other people’s feelings are not your responsibility to carry.

    • She’s a one-of-a-kind original for anyone choosing more joy, more colour and fewer permission slips.

Artist’s Note

I love her because she feels like the version of ourselves we’re all trying to be a bit more often. The one who doesn’t panic when someone disapproves. The one who can enjoy the drink, the sunshine, the outfit, and the moment, without checking if everyone else is comfortable first. She’s warm and fun, but she’s also not available for emotional nonsense, and honestly, good for her.
